The big winner at the Golden Globes 2018 was Martin McDonagh’s Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, which picked up four awards on the night – including that of best motion picture for drama - despite garnering a rather mixed reaction on social media. Meanwhile Sterling K. Brown made history by becoming the first black actor to win in the TV drama lead actor category for his role in This Is Us, speaking of his “tremendous sense of pride” in a heartfelt acceptance speech. And Greta Gerwig’s Lady Bird picked up the gong for best motion picture for comedy or drama, despite the director herself missing out on a nomination thanks to the notably "all-male" nominee list – something which didn’t pass the award's presenter Natalie Portman by (the actress’s dig at the list immediately went viral on Twitter).
